I embarked on a journey to America as an ordinary citizen nearly three decades ago and at that time I only saw the White House from the outside. I have had the privilege of visiting here several times. Today is the first time that the doors of the White House have been opened for the Indian community in such a large number. The people of the Indian community in America are enhancing the glory of India with their talent hard work and dedication. All of you are the real strength of our relationship. My gratitude towards them is immeasurable and I cannot thank them enough. The societies and systems of both India and America are based on democratic principles. The Constitutions of both the nations signify the pride that we have in our diversity in both the countries. More than 40 lakh people of Indian origin are contributing significantly to the progress of America today. The presence of Indians in such large number at the White House this morning is testimony to the fact that they are the driving force of our relationship. We both agree that the development and success of this region is important for the whole world. India and America are walking shoulder to shoulder in the fight against terrorism and radicalism. We are of the opinion that it is essential for all countries to unite to solve these problems. We believe in the basic principle that may all be happy may all be free from illness. In this period the friendship between India and America will be important in enhancing the capabilities of the entire world. Both the countries are committed to work together for the global good for global peace stability and prosperity. Our strong strategic partnership is a clear testament of the power of democracy. I am confident that our dialogue will be highly constructive and fruitful. I will have the opportunity to address the U.S. Congress once again in the afternoon. I am grateful to you for this honour. Your life your efforts and your achievements are a source of inspiration for everyone. Ensuring a better future for our present and future generations is our collective responsibility. Education skills and innovation are essential for this bright future and in this direction we have made several efforts in India. We have integrated education and skilling in the National Education Policy. We have established labs in schools where children are provided with various facilities for innovations. There is a need for pipeline of talent to maintain the momentum of growth between India and America. While America has prestigious educational institutions and advanced technologies India has the world's largest youth factory. Therefore I believe that the partnership between India and America will prove to be the engine for sustainable and inclusive global growth. I wholeheartedly congratulate all of you for the significant role being played by community colleges in America. I would like to share some thoughts on mutual cooperation in education and research between India and America. In this collaborative effort it is essential to involve the teachers and students. We can consider initiating a programme in which there will be participation of the teachers of India and United States of America and they will share their views and will exchange their ideas. I am pleased to inform you that we have successfully welcomed 750 faculty members from the United States to India. I would like to request serving and retired individuals associated with education and research in the United States to consider spending their holidays especially the winter break in India. By doing so they can explore India as well as they can also share their knowledge with the new generation of India. You are also aware that the spirit of creativity and innovation among young people is incredible. I believe that both countries should come together and conduct the competitions on different subjects. This can provide us with the solutions to many current problems as well as it can also generate new ideas for the future. I would like to see students from America come to India where they can experience and explore India. I have hope and confidence that the day is not far when the youth of the America will sit in Nagaland where they will collaborate with their friends to co-develop an idea and a project. I am truly grateful from the bottom of my heart to these two young individuals for providing me with so many ideas. America is India's biggest trade partner. We have decided to end the pending issues related to trade and make a fresh start. It has emerged as an important framework for our technical cooperation. By expanding our cooperation in areas such as Artificial Intelligence semiconductors space and telecom we are building a robust partnership. The decision of American companies to invest in India is a symbol of this futuristic partnership. During this visit I have also had the opportunity to meet some of the other CEOs from the U.S. I also felt a positive attitude towards India during my interaction with them. Both of us agree that it is very crucial for the Governments businesses and academic institutions to come together to make our strategic technology partnership meaningful. We have taken several important initiatives to implement the vision of India and America in clean energy. This includes areas such as green hydrogen wind energy battery storage and carbon capture. We are trusted partners and I am sure that we will create the value chain. The close cooperation between India and the United States is a Symbol of our mutual trust. Leaving behind the old buyer and seller relationship we have today moved towards transfer of technology co-development and co-production. The decision by General Electric to manufacture engines through technology transfer in India is a landmark agreement. This will also open up new employment opportunities in both the countries. This will give a new shape in the times to come. Defence industries of both countries are important partners in this cooperation. Linking them together is the main objective.
